Our beloved Carol Pagi, Parish Secretary here at St. Ann’s from 1975 to 2000, passed peacefully on Thursday, April 28, 2022 in her home. Her funeral will be held here on Saturday, May 7 at 11:30am. Click to read her obituary.

I teach metaphysics and apologize for what some might deem too speculative for the issue at hand regarding human life. However, I would argue that this is exactly the kind of thinking (through the lens of scientific reason rather than religious faith – with all respect) which needs to re-emerge in the defense of human life – not to the exclusion of religious faith statements but in concert with them. The pro-life movement is not simply a Catholic thing, a religious thing; that’s exactly how the opposition would like to frame the debate. It is a debate that can be argued on naturally scientific terms – of course, elevated by the profound supernatural gifts of God and the specific doctrine of the Incarnation of Jesus and the Motherhood of Mary.

On December 11, 2021, Aaron Stettler and John Poodts were ordained to the priesthood in in Villa Cura Brochero, Argentina. Fr. Aaron Stettler shares a testimony about his ordination to the priesthood, and we also learn where Fr. John Poodts is on his journey:

In accordance with the new Archdiocese of Washington and CDC guidelines, starting this weekend, masks are now required for all individuals over the age of 2. Vaccination status does not exempt persons from this requirement.

Last week, St. Ann was happy to send two faithful teens in our Youth Program, Ronan and Fred, to join 25+ teens from throughout the Washington Archdiocese attending Leaders Inspired To Evangelize (LITE). They had a great time and grew in their Catholic faith!

On July 25, the Church will celebrate the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly for the first time. In proclaiming this day, Pope Francis invites us to reflect on the care and dignity we owe to our elders. At the same time, the day is a reminder that Jesus calls us throughout our lives to be His witnesses. Grandparents and elders are witnesses to the perseverance and love that are the hallmarks of faith. Let us give thanks for these good and faithful witnesses and the gift they are to our Church, our parishes and our families. On May 9, 2021, Aaron Stettler and John Poodts were ordained to the diaconate at St. Ann Catholic Church in Washington DC. Deacon Aaron shares a testimony of his ordination and an update on where he is now:

We are looking for self-motivated, enthusiastic teachers to educate students in 2nd grade, or 3rd and 4th grade, and, in 2023, 7th and 8th grade in our Parish School of Religion.
